Biography

Greg is the founder and partner of The Magellan Group LLC, a management consulting firm that provides organization development, strategic planning and operations management services to healthcare organizations, non-profits and businesses. Greg’s passion is improving organization performance. He has improved the organizational, financial and operational performance for organizations in a wide variety of industries over the course of his career.

Greg has developed analytical methodologies to quickly evaluate the performance of existing business entities and identify new opportunities. His excellent communications skills enable him to engage all levels of the organization. He is equally adept in dealing with staff, management, boards of directors and shareholders, as well as outside attorneys, financiers and regulatory agencies.

As Chief Operating Officer of a large multi-specialty academic physician practice, Greg managed the execution of the strategic plan which included physicians, administrators and staff. He also developed and executed a plan to build the organization’s infrastructure, create a culture of collaboration between healthcare providers and staff; and return the practice to profitability after five previous years of losses.

His healthcare and non-profit experience includes primary and specialty care practices, community based organizations, federally qualified health care center and 340b designated entities, long term care facilities, specialty hospitals, as well as executive level experience in a major Health Management Organization.

Magellan Group participates as an organization development consultants in the GetSET program, funded by major foundations in western and central New York. The objective of GetSET is to build capacity and infrastructure of non-profit agencies that serve vulnerable populations. Magellan is involved in the Finger Lakes Performing Provider System Pilot project, part of the New York State Medicaid Delivery System Reform Incentive Payment Program. This program is designed to integrate Community Based Organizations into the healthcare delivery process.

Greg holds a MBA from the University of Miami (Florida) and a BS in management from the State University of New York at Buffalo. He is a Certified Public Accountant licensed in the State of New York. Greg was recognized in Buffalo Business First as a “Top 50 in Healthcare”.

Greg maintains membership in the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and the New York State Society of Certified Public Accountants, the Medical Group Management Association and the New York State Medical Group Management Association.

Active in the community, he currently serves on the Board of Directors of the Buffalo Chapter of the New York State Medical Group Management Association.  The Magellan Group supports Cradle Beach, WNY BloodCare formerly Hemophilia Center of Western New York Foundation, the Buffalo Therapeutic Riding Center, Bornhava, the Buffalo and Erie County Botanical Gardens, Stables at the Knox Neighborhood Health Center, Ibero American Action League, Wyoming County Community Action Program and the Mercy Hospital Foundation.
